Are you taking medication for a long term condition? Or taking multiple medications to treat the same thing? At Orion Pharmacy we offer a medicine check up service. We’ll review your medication and be able to give you advice on how they can work better for you.
The Medicines Check Up is a FREE NHS service conducted by one of our pharmacists, they’ll make sure you’re getting the most from your medicines and understand as much as possible about your condition to help you manage it as best you can.
So, for example, if you have asthma or high blood pressure, you might have been prescribed several medicines to help, and may have questions you would like to ask about them.
If you’re interested in the service, visit us in store and speak to one of our team.If you qualify we’ll take you to the side for an informal, confidential consultation. This should only take around 10 minutes and it can be done while you’re waiting for your medicines to be dispensed.
The pharmacist will ask if you have any questions or concerns about your medicines. For example, you might like to know
The Medicines Check Up is designed to help you understand more about your condition, and how to help your medicines work for you in the best way possible.
If the pharmacist feels you would benefit from going back to see your doctor for a review, they may recommend this and give you advice on the questions to ask.
If you are taking medicines for a longer-term condition, it may be useful to consider the FREE Repeat Prescription Service, which is available either in store, or online. Quick and easy to set up, it takes away the need to revisit your GP every time you need a new prescription. Contact us to arrange for Orion Pharmacy to manage your prescription online.
If you’ve recently been prescribed a medication for a new condition, it’s no surprise you’ll have questions. If you qualify you may be able to get extra help and advice about your medicine from us through a new free scheme called the New Medicine Service (NMS).
It’s not uncommon for patients to feel overwhelmed when prescribed new medicines and have questions about how to take them, how to store them and what to do if they’re unsure about something.
Through this this scheme we’re here to support you over several weeks to use the medicine safely and to best effect. You are eligible for this service if you the new medication is for Asthma, COPD, Type 2 Diabetes, High Blood Pressure or a blood thinning medication.
